Set Apart- A Study of Christ and the Pharisees (Ken Hines & Marc Compton)

Christ interacted with the Pharisees throughout his ministry using them as examples of what not to do as a follower of God. Matthew 23:1-3 (NLT) says:

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, “The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses. So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don’t follow their example. For they don’t practice what they teach.”

So how did the official interpreters of the law of Moses get here through the years? Their content was spot on, but their examples were way off. In this study, we will discuss the interactions between Christ and the Pharisees with the aim of learning where the Pharisees went wrong. As we look at the Pharisees, we may have to measure our own faith approach in an honest way before God. We believe this will be a challenging and beneficial study of getting back to what James refers to as pure religion (James 1:27). Come prepared to absorb and act.

An Introduction to the Teachings of Christ (Clint Kelley & Mike Anderson)

Our objective is to provide an opportunity to study the basics of Christianity through the words of Christ. Material to be studied includes the Beatitudes in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew chapter 5 and the Gospel of John. Students seeking to go deeper in their faith walk or just beginning their faith walk will be at home in this class. Either way, questions throughout the study are accepted and we will attempt to answer those questions in as complete a fashion as possible. Christ’s message was a simple message of redemption and rest. Come each week to better understand the life changing basics of Christ’s teachings.
